We would like to welcome you and the children to Priory Junior School. We hope the children enjoy the learning and experiences that they will take part in over this year.
We begin our learning journey by comparing the English Seaside with a Mediterranean resort in Where The Forest Meets the Sea. The children will experience a trip to Hunstanton and make sketches and observations about the beach. After this exciting start to the year, we will then learn about how early man lived in the Stone Age. The children will study a book called ‘The Stone Age Boy’. This will give the children opportunities to learn about ancient ways of life. All of these topics will be linked with our English and Maths lessons.
In Spring, the children will learn about the Ancient Greeks and how they have influenced our modern society. The children will learn mythical stories and legends with fantastical creatures. We will compare the modern Olympics with the Ancient Games, concluding with a Greek Day and an Olympics of our own.
Finally, the children will focus on local history. They will have the opportunity to learn about what St Neots was like in the past and how the Rowley family have influenced the town around them. Following this, the children will have the chance to explore the deepest depths of the earth and create volcanic eruptions in the topic Escape From Pompeii. Some people say that there may be a volcano under our feet that needs investigating!
