Tosin Oke Visit

8th March 2016

Commonwealth Games gold medal winning Triple jumper, Tosin Oke, who was seventh in the 2012 London Olympics final and has already qualified for this summer’s Rio Olympics, visited Priory Junior School, St Neots, as part of a Team Superschools event.  The afternoon was all about enjoyment and participation which helped the children learn more about sport and how you can strive to be the best you can be.  The visit has inspired everyone!

The children had their photograph taken with Tosin before participating in their sponsored event, completing an exercise circuit comprising of: sit ups, leg drives, press ups and star jumps and more. Altogether, the children totalled more than 10,000 repetitions of these exercises, an amazing achievement!

This was followed by a question and answer session for the children with their international sporting celebrity. Tosin explained to the children how it is important to make the most of your talents by working hard and then the successes in life can be really rewarding.

Tosin also wowed the children when he performed a triple jump (hop step jump) which took him across the entire hall floor and out through a side door!

Funds raised will go towards improving the schools’ environmental area as well as supporting the TSS Award Scheme, which gives financial assistance to talented pupils in their chosen sports, developing international stars of the future!
