Bird-Themed Learning Week

26th March 2018

Bird-Themed Learning is a Hoot

Children enjoyed a fun and informative week of learning about birds, this week.

As part of the activities, there was a memorable visit from the Night Owls which included a flying demonstration across the school hall. Gliding silently above the children’s heads, they were thrilled by the visit, and enjoyed learning so much about the owls and how to care for animals in our local environment. There also an opportunity to be photographed with an owl perched on their shoulder during the morning.

There was also an exciting bird-themed treasure trail around the school grounds which was greatly enjoyed by the children. Prizes for solving the trail were provided by Friends of Priory – with all children earning a small Easter treat. There was also a competition draw of the completed trail sheets, which had some generous prizes donated by Brittains Furnishers, Martin McColls and Sweet Paradise.

The children have been enthused by the topic theme of birds, and we are grateful for the generosity of our local shops who have sponsored our work this week. Thank-you!

The week was a tremendous success, developing the children’s appreciation of nature, their responsibility for the environment, and inspiring them to discover more. The visit of the owls is sure to remain in children’s memories for a long time to come.
