Parents and Learning

Learning Tables - Number Link Boards

In class, the children make use of Number Link Boards to support them with understanding and deriving tables facts.

Below is a short video to show you how these can be used.

Number Link Boards are also available to purchase from the school office to use at home too.
Home Learning Packs - Parent Information Evening

We have put together a pack of resources that we thought would help parents with supporting children with homework and learning at home.

Please watch the video below from the parent information evening, showing how these can be put to use.

Computing Information Evening

Thank-you to all our parents who came along to our computing information evening, led by Mr Folly. The evening provided an outline of the computing curriculum over the junior years. There were also opportunities to try out some coding, using the software ‘Kodu’, to explore the use of data loggers, and to see a demonstration of our Green Screen tool – thank-you to Joshua who demonstrated this.

The parents were also grateful of the assistance from our helpers – who ensured that everyone was able to explore the resources fully. Thank-you to William, Keira and Leon for their help.

One parent said of the event: ‘A very informative session – thank-you’.

Please see the powerpoint from the evening below.

Maths Information Evening

Our  maths information evening was well-attended, and provided a chance for parents to find out a little more about the approaches used in school to build children's understanding of Number.

During the evening, our Numberlinks boards were demonstrated - these are used to help children secure their tables knowledge and understanding. There are some great games to play on them to help with this.

Can I have a Numberlinks board to use at home?
Yes! The Numberlinks boards are now available to purchase to use at home too. Please contact the school office if you would like to purchase one.
Spelling and Grammar Information Evening

Our spelling and grammar information evening gave parents a chance to learn about the school's approach to teaching spelling and grammar during children's time at Priory Junior School.
It was a practical session, with lots of helpful ideas for games and activities to play at home to support children with their learning too.
A selection of the resources are underneath.
Parent Do Days

Each term, parents are invited to join their children in class and take part in one of their lessons with them.
Our last Parent Do day was on 7th December - with a focus of Christmas art / decorations.

How do I find out when these are?
Check the newsletter for time slots for each year group's session.

Can I bring younger siblings?
It is probably not suitable for this - as classrooms are busy places.
Parents' Coffee Morning

This year we have been holding coffee mornings for parents, organised by year groups with the aim of raising money for charity.
Parents are invited to come and enjoy a coffee and a cake from 9 - 10am, with entertainment provided during this time. You can drop in for some or all of this time.

When is the next coffee morning?
Our next coffee morning is on 7th February - this will be for all parents.
