A night of netball!

Priory finish 5th and 3rd in Longsands tournament.

Match Report: Year 5/6 Netball tournament.         Tuesday 4th July 2017

Priory entered two teams into the netball tournament at Longsands on Tuesday evening. Priory A were drawn in a group with Holywell and Stukeley, with their first match coming against Stukeley. This was a tight game with both teams giving their all to win. Two goals from Alfie and one from Lillian meant that Priory were able to come away from their first game with a very respectable 3-3 draw.

Next up was Holywell and another super performance with Priory coming away as 5-3 winners. The goals being shared between Alfie (3) and Kane (2). This meant that Priory qualified for the 4th, 5th, 6th play-off group. Newtons were brushed aside by and excellent Priory team for which Kane and Alfie shared two goals each in a 4-1 win. The final game was against Crosshall. Priory began well going 1-0 up courtesy of Kane early on, however they began to tire and eventually fell to a 5-1 defeat meaning they finished the tournament in a respectable 5th place.

It was a similarly eventful tournament for Priory’s B team who began their tournament against Crosshall with a 2-1 defeat. Jack briefly brought Priory back on level terms with a goal before the opposition eventually sealed a close victory. Roundhouse were next for Priory with a goal from Grace earning them a 1-1 draw against the eventual winners.

Next for Priory was a game against Holywell. Priory performed brilliantly throughout the match but were unable to find the elusive goal to break the deadlock. Then with only moments left Jack managed to find the well-deserved goal to give Priory a 1-0 win. It was Stukeley next and Eleanor was on fire bagging three goals and providing one for Callum to earn a 4-2 victory.

Priory lead their final game against Great Paxton for almost the whole match after an early goal from Jack gave them the lead early on, however the final shot of the match found its way into the Priory net to leave the final score at 1-1.

Both teams performed very well throughout the tournament and should be very proud of their respective 5th and 3rd place finishes.

Priory A: Kane, Alfie, Rosie, Poppy, Lillian.

Priory B: Jack, Macy, Eleanor, Callum, Grace.
